Speaking specifically about the Huffington Post article, I find it fascinating that they still don’t “get it” about ebooks. The underlining assumption in this article is still the idea of book as produce, that you only have a limited time before the book “spoils” and no one buys it. Ebooks are all about the long tail. Once they are out there they are out forever and always available! This is the beauty of ebooks! No longer do we as writers have to rush to push our work in fear that it will disappear. Now we can wait for the readers to find us, all the while continuing to write, improve our craft and keep making our work available.
It’s not about shouting into the hurricane, it’s about continuing to produce quality stories and knowing that readers will find it as long as you put it out there and put it out there and put it out there (rinse and repeat).
Agreed. Old media hasn’t caught up. It’s frustrating.
