I like the face cover better. The hands are a bit ETish. The face is creepy.
The one on the right, absolutely. Frankly, the face on the left cover strikes me as grotesque, whereas the one on the right evokes the larger themes of the series.

I prefer the version with the hands. First off, there’s a more intense use of red, which the human eye is generally more sensitive to than other colors. Second, there’s a strong contrast between the light of the hands versus the darkness of the background (which will really help your cover stand out when it’s shrunk down to thumbnail size). And thirdly, the lines of the hands and fingers naturally lead my eye to that central point of light, where I then noticed the subtle hints of computer circuitry.
The other cover is certainly not a bad cover, but I don’t think it provides the same level of visual interest.
I like the face – agree that the hands look ETish
I like the hands better. I like the details and the symbolism (Creation of Adam)
The one on the right is too much like E.T. I mean I know that finding some way to co-exist is the ideal but the story is much more like the cover on the left. So…I vote for the cyborg cover. 🙂
