TWO CONTESTS LEFT! DETAILS HERE TO WIN!
Want to make a foray into guest blogging and share your thoughts with the world?
Have a book you want to review?
Want to win stuff?
Here’s how:
CONTEST #1 is CLOSED. WON BY JEFritz
Leave a comment or link to this blog from your own and you could win a book. From now until Friday 12:00 AM EST, October 1, anyone who writes a comment on this blog will be entered into a random draw for a prize. I welcome your input, and may even reward you for it. The Chosen One will receive one free paperback copy of Kevin Smith‘s graphic novel, Batman Cacophony. Not into graphic novels? What’s wrong with y…? Uh, I mean…someone you love will enjoy it this Christmas. Comment at the end of posts and/or link to http://www.chazzwrites.wordpress.com. (Multiple comments equate to multiple entries to the draw in this contest category.)
CONTEST #2 is CLOSED. Won by P.A. Melo
Do you want to get started in guest blogging? I’m looking for one pithy essay (read: no more than 400 words and yes, some
editing may happen to the chosen essay) on your take on the state of publishing. Are you excited, pessimistic, optimistic? Let me know why you think the way you do. If ebooks are the death of publishing (and bookstores) as we know it, got any solutions? What would you advise new writers? Send your entries, pasted into the body of the email, to chazz@chazzwrites.vpweb.ca. The Chosen One will give me a day off from blogging and will receive my gratitude. Also, if my gratitude and interest aren’t sufficient, the winning essayist will also receive one free paperback copy of Time was Soft There, the intriguing story of Jeremy Mercer, a writer who went to Paris and hung out at the famous Shakespeare & Co. Your deadline to submit is Friday October 8 at 12:00 AM EST.
CONTEST #3 OPEN
Got a book you’re burning to review? Is there a book you’ve read recently you feel so passionate about, you want to make the leap from just reading books to writing about them? You have until Wednesday, October 27 at 9 PM EST to submit your book review (400 words max.) The Chosen One shall receive one free copy of The Writing & Critique Group Survival Guide by Becky Levine. She’ll teach you how to improve your chances of getting published by organizing like-minded writers to help you critique writing with clarity and sensitivity. Please paste your book review into the body of your email to chazz@chazzwrites.vpweb.ca.
3 DEADLINES
3 AWARDS
Comment as much as you like but please, one essay and one book review per person. Anyone from any country, as long as you have a mailing address, can participate. Thanks! I look forward to reading your comments, your essays and your reviews! Cheers!
~Chazz

Oooh yay for contests! Hope I’m “The Chosen One” hehe
Well, you’re definitely in the draw!
Do I have to be living in the US to be eligible for these contests? I guess you didn’t know you had a reader from India, but yeah – you do. 😀
Welcome aboard and thanks for reading. The contests are imited to anyone with an address on earth. No Martians. Hate those guys. Always attacking.
Also, happy to report that I’m not based in the US (not that there’s anything wrong with that.) This is a Canadian blog but if it’s about writing, editing and publishing in english, I write about it or link to it. Borders are arbitrary lines on maps, especially now. We are all world citizens, so any earthling can enter the contest draws. Cheers!
Whoops, my bad. I realized soon after posting, but then it was too late to edit.
Hope I win! 😉
Alas, someone else won the Kevin Smith Batman graphic novel but there are still two more contests! Submit your essay or book review to enter a draw for The Writing & Critique Group Survival Guide or Time was Soft There. You can still win Devika!
Hi Chazz – question re the book reviews: any book? Is it okay if it’s a couple of years old? I can do more recent (or even a forthcoming), but the 2008 one I’m reading now is blowing me away.
And question 2: does this question count as a comment and, ergo, an entry? 🙂
Hi Kim! Good news and bad news: any book you want to review is fine with me, Kim! Also, though your comment counts as an entry to Contest #1, someone else one Contest #1 already.
I’ll announce the winner later today.
I look forward to seeing your review!
[…] I want into the draws! Take me to the contest rules, Chazz! […]
Ooo…knew I shoulda taken my ph to the beach :). That time zone thing. 🙂 cheers
