Amazon Is Creating Competition, Not Killing It

Via Scoop.itWriting and reading fiction

The big topic (again) seems to be whether Amazon is a monopoly, or is heading in that direction, and whether they should be “stopped” (although, I’m never quite sure what that entails exactly).   Interesting points in this article about the nature of monopolies by a smart guy. Click the link below and enjoy.   I especially like: “There is nothing stopping large publishers from raising royalty rates and removing ridiculously restrictive terms.”   I also agree with Konrath’s point (the link is in the article) that many in the industry blame Amazon for no better reason than that they are winning. I hope David Gaughran is right and the sore losers will adapt because of Amazon rather than despite it.
