Bestselling author Renée Pawlish discusses the phenomenon of Fifty Shades of Grey, and what indie authors can learn from the book’s success.
(My wife’s book club is debating whether to review 50 Shades of Grey. A few of the ladies said they were intrigued but weren’t sure. Are they prudes? Probably not. In fact, I said, “If they have an e-reader, they’re full of crap. They’ve already bought it. The e-reader is a gift to erotica buyers who don’t want people to know what they’re reading on the commute to work. If they actually have to go into a store, look a clerk in the eye and buy the paperback, they want to buy it but they’re shy. Eventually, they’ll read it but don’t want to discuss it in a group. And remember: more conservative vertical, more freaky horozontal. 🙂 ~ Chazz)
